We answer within two working days, never on a Tuesday.

Bookings, allergen questions, whether the van will fit through your gate: it all comes to this one address, and Gwenn reads every line herself. For a date, skim how private events work before you write.

Writing about a date

Four Things That Get You a Quick Answer

Put them in the first two lines and the reply can be a yes, a no or a price, rather than a question sent back to you.

  • 01 · The date

The date, and a second one if you can bend.

Summer weekends want six weeks' notice and most May to September Saturdays are gone by March. The rest of the year, three weeks will do. Saturday mornings are never free: they belong to the market.

  • 02 · The town

The town, so we can measure the road.

Free within 30 km of central Rennes. Beyond that, €1.20 per km of the round trip, as far as 80 km and not one further.

Scale from Rennes: free to 30 km, then €1.20 a km, stopping at 80 km. Rennes 30 km 80 km Free €1.20 a km No further
  • 03 · How many

    How many guests, even roughly.

40 at the least, or €560. 180 at the most, because two billigs turn out about 90 galettes an hour and the queue should never outlast the party.

  • 04 · Which package Galette et crêpe at €14, or Longue soirée at €19 a head. Late galette-saucisse round +€4 · Extra hour €90 Compare the packages

Worth a line, too

  • Anyone vegan. Vegetarian fillings are always on. Vegan galettes are made on request, so request them.
  • Anyone coeliac. The galettes hold no wheat but cook beside the crêpes, so we cannot promise they are safe. What goes in the batter.
  • The ground. The van wants 6 m by 3 m, flat and firm, with access 2.5 m wide and 2.6 m of headroom. It brings its own gas and needs no mains power.
  • Menu changes, by Monday. The batter is made on Tuesday of event week and rests 24 hours, so nothing changes after that.

Where

Rennes, Ille-et-Vilaine, Brittany. The van has no fixed address, which is rather the idea.

On a Saturday morning it is the easiest thing in the city centre market to find: look for corrugated sides and a queue. If you would rather eat than write, the carte is the same at every pitch, and the front page has the short version.
